Bright Futures Mentoring Program
INTERESTED IN A BRIGHT EMPLOYMENT FUTURE?
The Bright Futures Mentoring Program will match you (as the mentee) with an experienced graduate (your mentor) and is open to all current students who have completed at least six units.
Bright Futures will assist you to gain valuable skills and real-world expertise and make personal industry contacts to support your learning.
Applications for mentees will open at the start of Sessions 1 and 2 each year - watch out for emails and advertisements closer to these times. In the meantime, you can review the Bright Futures Handbook and start to update your resume with the help of the online Career Development Program resources.
Participating in Bright Futures will give you the extra edge in gaining graduate employment.
This program is an exciting collaboration between the SCU Alumni and Career Development Service teams that provides learning experiences connecting your classroom with the "real world".

- Increasing your job skills and knowledge before you enter the workforce
- The opportunity to have your mentor help you design and refine your future career plan
- Gaining insight into organisational cultures and attitudes in your field
- Taking advantage of networking opportunities.
Successful mentoring relationships are reciprocal, respectful and mutually beneficial with the mentor and mentee learning from each other.
To participate you agree to attend an information/training workshop and commit to speaking with your mentor at least three times, for 30-60 minutes, during the program.

|21 March – 2 April||Mentees contact Mentors to arrange first meeting (phone, Skype or face-to-face)|

|May||Complete second Mentor and Mentee meeting|
|June||Complete final Mentor and Mentee meeting|
|30 June||Bright Futures program concludes|
|July||Return Bright Futures evaluation and feedback to program coordinator|
